Should I attend the entire session of SPARK or less?
SPARK begins with a burst of fresh energy and ends with a flurry of activity and an emotional farewell. Attending less than four weeks does not mean you will "miss something" however anytime after the session begins will be similiar to arriving in the middle of something either. However, with new energy, new participants, and new ideas, each week has its own unique flavor.
Can I sign up for a course in an area where I have no experience?
Yes. Participants should sign up for courses in areas they are interested in exploring at an introductory level. Courses at SPARK are a wonderful opportunity for children to try new things. Courses are not designed for students who have deep experience in, or exposure to, a given subject area.
How can I be sure that I am getting the most out of my activity choice(s)?
For each activity period throughout the day, the faculty of the SPARK program work to provide a balance of activity choices. There is a mix of athletic, art, academic and discussion activities. SPARK faculty members encourage students to try new and different activities on a daily basis.
Are there medical facilities on campus?
A certified first aid assistant is available on campus during regular camp hours. In cases that further evaluation of an injury or accident is needed, participants will be taken to Hurtado Medical Center located on College Avenue. St. Peter's and Robert Wood Johnson are local hospitals in case of emergencies.
How will daily activities and schedules be shared with me?
We will publish "The SPARK Plug", our daily newsletter, which will list all of the activities of the day. Our newsletter will be available in the afternoon at the child pick-up station.
